COURSE OBJECTIVES
This 2 session 4 day Advanced Orthodontics course has been created for those who have attended Dr. Rondeau’s Level I Orthodontics for General Practitioners or are currently practicing orthodontics and want to take their practice to the next level with greater case diagnosis and finishing skills.
You will learn a system for treating patients that involves stabilizing the temporomandibular joint prior to any orthodontic treatment, and bring these important skills to your practice where you can ensure a beautiful smile, straight teeth and healthy jaw joints.
BENEFITS OF TAKING THIS COURSE
LEARN THE LATEST IN ORTHO, TMD & SLEEP
Dr. Rondeau currently has 550 active patients in his practice with orthodontic, TMJ and snoring and sleep apnea problems. He is committed to continually updating the course to present current and up-to-date appliances and techniques showing many cases from start to finish.
CASE FINISHING
Various techniques will be demonstrated at each session that will assist general dentists in properly finishing their cases.
You will also learn:
ADVANCED STRAIGHTWIRE MECHANICS
Learn the latest in straightwire mechanics including:
• Double arch mechanics, one archwire holds space with open coil, one archwire aligns the displaced tooth
• Technique for eruption of mesially inclined second molars
• Methods to intrude incisors
• Techniques for extruding molars and bicuspids
• Eruption of impacted canines
• Anchorage control with TP and lingual arches
• Micro implants to control anchorage
SELF-LIGATING BRACKETS (IN-OVATION R™)
Learn how treatment time can be reduced by 4 to 6 months when patients are treated with the low friction In-Ovation-R™ brackets. This new Monacell wire achieves 7 degrees more torque maxillary central incisors than any other self-ligating bracket.
GUEST LECTURERS
Experienced clinicians who treat patients with orthopedic, orthodontic or TM dysfunction will be presenting interesting cases that they have treated.
LITERATURE REVIEW
Numerous articles will be provided for each course participant on a CD including: the American Association of Orthodontics website that stresses the importance of early treatment by recommending all children be screened by age seven. These articles promoting functional jaw orthopedic concepts are ideal for educating parents, patients and orthodontic clinicians not trained to appreciate the value of this form of treatment. This collection or pertinent articles will be a valuable asset to the functional clinician as it validates techniques that have been prevalent in the orthodontic profession for over 75 years.
TM DYSFUNCTION & ORTHODONTIC CASE FINISHING
You will learn how to finish cases with two phases:
Phase I – Diagnostic Splint Therapy
Phase II – Orthodontic Case Finishing
How to finish cases orthodontically:
FLEXIBLE
To accommodate your schedule, the sessions may be taken in different cities as each session is similar.
SNORING & SLEEP APNEA
In the January 2006 issue of Sleep Journal, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine recommended that oral appliances be utilized as the first line treatment for patients with mild to moderate sleep apnea. This has created an excellent opportunity for dentists who treat patients who suffer from snoring and sleep apnea to improve the health of their patients as well as significantly increase the size of their practices.
