LITERATURE REVIEW

Numerous articles will be provided for each course participant on a CD including: the American Association of Orthodontics website that stresses the importance of early treatment by recommending all children be screened by age seven. These articles promoting functional jaw orthopedic concepts are ideal for educating parents, patients and orthodontic clinicians not trained to appreciate the value of this form of treatment. This collection or pertinent articles will be a valuable asset to the functional clinician as it validates techniques that have been prevalent in the orthodontic profession for over 75 years.

TM DYSFUNCTION & ORTHODONTIC CASE FINISHING

You will learn how to finish cases with two phases:

Phase I – Diagnostic Splint Therapy

  • 4 to 6 Months Repositioning Splint, Pivot Splint, Anterior Deprogrammer, Farrar Night Appliance.

Phase II – Orthodontic Case Finishing

  • Cases will be presented on how to hold the position obtained in Phase I and how to verify that you are holding the position with the use of Joint Vibration Analysis as well as Tomogram X-rays to verify condylar position.

How to finish cases orthodontically:

  • Wearing full braces on upper and lower teeth
  • Use of lower diagnostic splint to hold correct position
  • Composite buildups on molars and incisal ramps to hold position

FLEXIBLE

To accommodate your schedule, the sessions may be taken in different cities as each session is similar.

SNORING & SLEEP APNEA

In the January 2006 issue of Sleep Journal, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine recommended that oral appliances be utilized as the first line treatment for patients with mild to moderate sleep apnea. This has created an excellent opportunity for dentists who treat patients who suffer from snoring and sleep apnea to improve the health of their patients as well as significantly increase the size of their practices.
